Free Lemons

We have a lemon tree at home that produces abundance of fruit of each year, more than enough for my family to enjoy. To prevent any from going to waste, we often fill a full of box of lemons and leave it by the roadside for passers-by to take for free.

At first, we didn't set any limits on how much people could take. However, someone with a stroller took almost of half of the box which went against our intension. So we decided to add a tag to the box that says "Up to six", to ensure everyone gets a fair share.

After one day, the box was almost empty, but only a few of low quality lemons left, It seems people prefer to best ones.

Yesterday, we filled another a full box, and changed the tag to "one dollar for eight",  after almost half a day,  no one paid, and not a single lemon was sold.

So, people always prefer free lemons.
