Saamra Mekuria-Grillo :Yes, you can be an entrepreneur too

Not everyone can become an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs need to have many qualities. As an enterprise, it needs diversified talents in multiple fields. In the early stage of entrepreneurship, it may still be a small company. The founder needs to take into account technology, customers, marketing, public relations, finance, law and other aspects. This requires the founder to have strong technical ability, market development ability, and public relations handling ability. Not everyone has such qualities. someone with deep expertise or talent in a specific field but lacks the broad skills needed to succeed as an entrepreneur. Their strength lies in their specialized knowledge, and when they stay within that domain, they can achieve great success. However, entrepreneurship requires a broader skill set—such as leadership, financial management, strategic thinking, and risk management—which they may not possess. A real-world example of this could be an extremely talented artist, scientist,...

Self-Reflection #3. Prepare for your story panel

 1. How will you prepare for your narrative speech?  What specific things will you do? First, I'm trying to find a funny story from my childhood. Next, I will write down the story scripts,  then keep revising it unil I'm satisfied before I read it and practice it.  finally, I can narrative it fluently without scripts. Here are some specific things I would do.  First, The story must be short and something I've experienced,  so, I can speak about it naturally. Next I will spend times revising it, to ensure the script has smooth transitions. 2. Complete this sentence: "My goal for this speech is to ...." Why is this your goal? (Examples: "speak for two miniutes" " attemp to look at the audience" "use 3 new vocabulary words" "not speak too fast" "not read my notes") My goal for this speech is to tell us a truant story when I was in 2nd grade. 3. What stress management strategies will you use to be calm and less nervous...

Zero Policy

2024-09-23 People often rely on their experiences to solve problems, but there are times where the approach is ineffective, especially when they are venturing into a new field. In these situations, adopting a 'Zero Policy' - essencially, setting aside everthing they have learned - might be a better strategy. This approach can help prevent interference from past experiences, allowing them to start from scratch and learn step by step. People often solve some problems by their experiences, but sometimes it can not take effective against a particular situation, especially they start to explore a new field.  There are many methods for learning, but the best one for you is the one you’re using now. Keep reflecting on it, practice regularly, and improve it in your own way. Zero policy, forgot everything you learned would be a better strategy to deal with new circustances. it will be avoid interferences from previous experiences. People can start over from zero and learn it step by ste...

A Truant Experience

-- prologue I'm Tony from China, today I'd like to share a personal story , it's about a time I played truant , something many of us might have experienced when we were young .  -- story When I was in the second grade , I didn’t fully understand the importance of learning . One morning, my childhood friends and I were walking to school when someone suggested skipping class and going to the nearby town to watch a movie instead. What kind of movie was so attractive that it's worth skipping class for? It was a film starring Jackie Chan, the famous movie star from HongKong . We were all thrilled by the great idea, so we agreed without hesitation .  The movie wasn’t free , and we didn’t have any money to buy tickets , so we had to sneak in through a side door after it started. After watching the movie, it was already noon , and we went home for lunch like it was a normal day, then returned to school in the afternoon . No one told their parents ab...

A Family Man

My father suffered a lot for our family. That day was Mid-Autumn Festival, I was a student and lived in the same city where my father worked. That day afternoon, it was drizzle raining,  I bought some fruits and rode a bicycle heading to my father's habitant which is a boat. My father wasn't at home when I reached the boat,  at 8 o'clock pm, it was totally dark,  I didn't find my father yet. I embarked from the boat, and was lingering on the road without an umberlla.  suddenly, I saw a silhouette that seemed my father. The man was deeply bending his waist, and   towed a human-powered two-wheeled cart which fully loaded iron shavings.  I'm definitely sure that the man was my father. I rushed over to my father and helped pushing the cart. After a long time work, we were able to sit down and have dinner. When I asked how much the iron shraving weighted, he told me that it was about 1.6 tons. Every year I celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival, I often recollec...

Free Lemons

We have a lemon tree at home that produces abundance of fruit of each year, more than enough for my family to enjoy. To prevent any from going to waste, we often fill a full of box of lemons and leave it by the roadside for passers-by to take for free. At first, we didn't set any limits on how much people could take. However, someone with a stroller took almost of half of the box which went against our intension. So we decided to add a tag to the box that says "Up to six", to ensure everyone gets a fair share. After one day, the box was almost empty, but only a few of low quality lemons left, It seems people prefer to best ones. Yesterday, we filled another a full box, and changed the tag to "one dollar for eight",  after almost half a day,  no one paid, and not a single lemon was sold. So, people always prefer free lemons.
